My name is Tim Smith, Timothy Alan Smith to be exact. I decided to create this page after a long time period in which I had no website. I needed a way to communicate with friends and family and store mass quantities of pictures. Having the most generic name ever, I couldn't register timsmith.com. Some crazy mayoral candidate in Fort Lauderdale registered that one a long time ago. So here we are at TheRealTimSmith.com. I consider myself the real Tim Smith since the other guy's pictures looks too funny to possibly be real.
A Little Background
I'm a 27 year old (as of 2011) Network Operations Center Administrator from Napa, California. I was technically born in Vallejo, CA, but I try not to think about that. I currently call Portland, OR home, having moved there after graduating from Humboldt State University with a BS in Computer Information Systems. I'm married to a wonderful woman by the name of Brittany that you can see in the picture to the right. Note the sun in the picture as a dead giveaway that we're not in Portland. That would be New Zealand.
My Hobbies
I'm an all around geek and anyone that has ever been around a geek for more than week can attest to the fact that we eat sleep and breath this stuff. My current job puts me at about 90% Windows system administration and 10% Linux system administration, but I hope to be doing more on the Linux side as time goes on. I enjoy geeking out on system administration related stuff as you'll notice from my blog posts. There's not a huge number of people out there that could write two pages on HTTP compression or JavaScript minimizing.
